Bringing Out The Best In Every Child

Autumn 2

At Littleborough Community Primary School, we have gone for Silver this half term.

Bronze 1: Assisting other children develop their multimedia skills.

The digital leaders have run a multimedia club for the children in Year 3 and Year 4 every Friday lunchtime this half term.  The leaders have been showing the children how to create PowerPoints, insert images from the internet, create transitions and animations within the PowerPoint and the next step is to introduce sounds.  They have been fabulous working with these younger children and all the digital leaders have been very nurturing.

Bronze 2:  Asking members of staff to help set up lessons and help children and staff with trouble shooting problems.

The digital leaders picked a year group each to be assigned to and drew up an agreement with the teachers in that year group regarding helping them to set up lessons and trouble shoot problems.  The children have been fulfilling their roles well, with lovely feedback from the teachers.

Silver 1:  Create a multimedia document to raise awareness of a particular theme: Anti-Bullying week

The digital leaders created a PowerPoint to show all the work the children did during Anti-Bullying week.  They also did some drama linked to Anti-Bullying week, which we videoed. We included this video on our multimedia document, as well as pictures and text.  The children then showcased this in an assembly.

(Unfortunately our video is too big to post onto the website)

Silver 2:  Create a multimedia document to raise awareness of a particular social network/media site: Youtube

The digital leaders created a PowerPoint to show how to stay safe when using Youtube.  They researched different ways that they could be safe when using Youtube and alternatives that children should use until they are the correct age to access Youtube.  We included a podcast on our multimedia document this time, as well as pictures and text.  The children then showcased this in an assembly.

We really enjoyed these challenges this half term and we can’t wait to get started on the next ones! Merry Christmas!
