Bringing Out The Best In Every Child

School Council

Welcome to our school council members

We are pleased to announce this year's school councillors. Each child presented the reasons why they felt they would make a good school councillor and were voted in by the members of their class. The school council meets on regularly to discuss matters that have arisen and are important to the children.

Our Projects

The school council is involved in a number of projects each year. Here are the few of the most recent:

Policy writing

We have been involved in updating the Anti-Bullying and Healthy Eating Policies.

Our children carried out a whole school assembly on the importance of healthy eating, when to eat sugary snacks and the data presented from dentists about the Rochdale area. We ask Parents and Carers to support us in our work and send your children to school with a healthy snack, examples of which can be found in the policy.

Raising Money

We organised a MacMillan morning earlier this term and invited the community to have tea and cakes with us. Thank you for the huge support and the help in raising money for this charity.

Previously, we have been involved in raising money for Breast Cancer Support, The Honey Bee Charity and Springhill Hospice.  The school and its community raised approximately £1500 for the three charities.

World Mental Health Day

On 10th October, we organised a Mental Health day in school to raise awareness and to help the children develop strategies and routines to help them keep a health mind.

Kindness Award

The school council launched the Kindness Award. Children were asked to nominate children in school who had show random acts of kindness and who were an inspiration to others.

Children's Champion for Rochdale

Children's champion applications have been sent out and we have some amazing children in year 4 and 5 who are hoping to be successful candidates.

Awards

The school council has also won a number of awards.

Gold Award

Our school council was very proud to achieve the GOLD School Council status.

Healthy School Status

The school was awarded the Healthy School Status in May 2004. The school has maintained this award and works closely with the LA to achieve the national standards around Healthy Eating, Physical Education, Emotional Health and Wellbeing.
