Year 3 - Gallery
RE
Year 3 have been doing art through RE. The children listened to and explored the story of the creation. They then looked at the work by Kate Neal. She uses watercolours to paint pictures of different parts of the creation story. The children then produced their own pictures.
Art
In Year 3, the children have been looking at colour wheels -primary and secondary colours and how some colours complement others. The children used this and their previous knowledge of monochromatic scales to produce a piece of art. They completed these fabulous still life picture of lemons!
Art
The children have been exploring washes. They have used watercolours to produce flat, dry and wet washes. they have leanrt how to use black and white colour to create monochromatic scales of colour. After studying the artist Ton Schulten they used these techniques to create their own art work.
History
Year 3 have just had their WOW day all about Early Britons. They began by creating timelines for the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age and were introduced to the vocabulary: prehistoric, Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. The children also studied the tools which were used tools and designed and made their own. They found out about cave paintings and created their own using oil pastels.
Art
In Art we have been experimenting with different types of washes. The children began exploring the work of Turner and Mark Rothko. They then used watercolours to create a range of washes, including dry on wet, dry and gradated washes. We developed this by looking at artists who use monochromatic paint scales, including Van Gogh. The children were introduced to the language tint, shade and tone. They then used tints and shades to create their own monochromatic paint scales using a colour of their choice.
