Bringing Out The Best In Every Child
Lower Key Stage 2 comprises of four classes. Thee are two Year 3 and Year 4 classes. Each class has approximately 30 children of mixed ability. The Year 3 classrooms are large and brightly decorated and benefit from generously sized reading areas, role play and interactive stations. They are located in the same area of the school as the Key Stage 1 classrooms and enjoy the use of a spacious resource area. This area is equipped with computers, music and reading areas. The Year 4 classrooms are located next to a fully equipped library and computer suite. During the school day the children in lower Key Stage 2 are provided with a range of practical and first hand experiences. Whilst engaging in such activities and other lessons the children are provided with the opportunity to work with other children. They are also provided with opportunities to work closely with a teacher.
Speaking and Listening, Reading, Writing, Handwriting, Vocabulary, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling are the main aspects of the English Curriculum. The children are also taught Mathematics and have lessons each week dedicated to problem solving, reasoning and the acquisition of mental maths skills. The children in Key Stage 2 are also taught the subjects outlined in the National Curriculum. These subjects are Science, Religious Education, Art, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Computing, French, Music, PSHE and Physical Education.
Mrs Gornall and Miss Miller support the teaching of Year 3 children.
Miss Greaves and Miss Gibson supports the teaching of Year 4 children.
