The PTFA is growing in confidence and numbers, and we are planning lots
of exciting and fun events in the coming year. We are pleased to report
that no objections were raised about photographs being taken of pupils
and are hoping to get snapping soon! This was held in the school hall on Saturday 19th November. There were craft stalls and second hand goods, face painting and opportunity for children to make gift boxes and finger puppets. A Profit of £472.99 was made. Secret Room This was held just before the Christmas break and was very popular. Children collected their pre-ordered, gift-wrapped presents for family members and wrote out their own gift tags. A total of £185.36 was raised and it was quite a lot of work but worth it to see the children shopping for a special present for their mums and dads. Bag2school Parents were asked to have a clear out, and bag up old clothes, shoes, handbags, belts, soft toys, curtains and bedding (in good condition) and bring it into school on Thursday 13th December. A lot of bags were returned full to the brim and we received a cheque for £160 – money for old rope! We have booked another collection for Tuesday 4th April at 9.am. Bags will be handed out the week before but if you want to start collecting earlier, you can use any bin liner to put the clothes in. Christmas Concerts These were as popular as ever. The shows were brilliant and the money raised from the sale of refreshments and raffle tickets totalled £700.95. Thank you to everyone who donated mince pies and raffle prizes. We were also thrilled to have representation from school at the Folk Music Workshop. Our school 5 A side football team won their first round matches of the Rochdale F C competition. They were through to the final on 11th March but unfortunately lost in the final 1-0 to Norden. Netball training is going very well and matches will be starting soon. The netball rally is on 25th March and more details will be available soon. Organisation for this year's residential to Scotland is well underway. The full cost of the trip is due by the end of April. A suggested clothing list will be sent home before Easter to give you plenty of time to gather things together. Please could all band members check at home for our red school waist coats. We still have some outstanding and due to this have had to have a further 25 made so that all band members could use them at the music festival. Any band money arrears should be paid before 31st March. |
