Computing

Information Communication Technology

Information Communication Technology (ICT) is an integral part of our daily lives. ICT has proven to be important in improving the quality of pupil's learning and the standards that pupils achieve across the curriculum.
At Littleborough Community Primary School we aim to ensure that all children will :-

  • enjoy using ICT and develop their confidence, enabling them to explore new situations, whilst applying their growing skills and knowledge.
  • appreciate the relevance of ICT in our society and will see it as an essential tool for developing knowledge, communicating, controlling and understanding their environment, whilst also being aware of its limitations and the consequences of its use.
  • be provided with the opportunities needed to develop their skills and knowledge in all areas of the ICT curriculum.
  • be provided with stimulating and enriching activities that may develop skills, knowledge and understanding relating to other curriculum areas.
  • experience a sense of achievement.
  • be provided with a safe environment, which prevents access to unsuitable material and inappropriate use of systems.

Therefore, all children from a young age are provided with access to a range of hardware and software, including computers, laptops, iPods, iPads, beebots, turtles, simulation software, monitoring equipment. We also strive to integrate computing in all areas of the curriculum and ensure that the children have a good knowledge and understanding of E-Safety. Children are provided with supervised access to the internet and use the internet to research information. We also provide children with access to Espresso, My Maths and Purple Mash to support their learning.
