What you can do at Littleborough Community Primary School

Multimedia Presentations

Children from Year 4, 5 and 6 meet every week to develop presentations on a subject of their own choices. The children are taught how to use power point, graphics packages and equipment such as microphones and scanners to develop their presentations. To see some of these presentations click here.

School Council
Each year, two children from Years 2 – 6 are selected to be on the school council. They meet every week to decide on various matters relating to the school. This year such matters have included developing the school tuck shop and decided on which healthy food should be sold by the tuck shop. To find out more about the school council click here.

Maths Club

The Maths Club is held to extend children’s learning and to challenge their thinking.
The lessons involve the use of a range of ICT software.

Gardening Club

This club is open to Year 5 and 6 children. The children are involved in maintaining the school’s garden, planting vegetables and developing the herb garden.

Recorders

This is open to children in Year 6 and the children are taught how to play a range of songs on the recorder.

School Newsletter

Children from key stage 2 are invited to attend this club. The newsletter is produced by the children of the school for other children in the school to read. The children who attend the club help to decide what should be placed in the school newsletter and help to collect information and produce articles. Click here to see our school newsletter.

Pottery Club

Year 4, 5 and 6 children are taught different building techniques. For example they are taught how to make coil pots and vases. Click here to see some of their work.

Spanish Club

Children from Years 4, 5 and 6 can attend Spanish lessons. These lessons take place once a week and use the latest software and technology to teach the children basic words, grammar and phrases.

Music Club

The children who attend this club are taught different singing skills. Tuition includes choir and individual training and the children work towards their grade 1 singing exam.

Band

Children can attend band practice and learn how to play a musical instrument. The band plays at various events, including Rochdale’s Music festival.

Sign Language Club

The children who attend this club are taught how to sign the alphabet, basic words and songs.

Football Club

In the Autumn and Spring term, Year 5 and 6 children are invited to attend this club. The children are taught a variety of skills and from these children two teams are chosen to play against other schools in the area. During the year all of the children in school attend football lessons run by Rochdale Football Club. Children are also invited to attend lessons run by the club, after school.

Netball Club

In the Autumn and Spring term, Year 5 and 6 children are invited to attend this club. The children are taught basic skills and teams are chosen to play against other schools in the area.

Rounders

In the summer term children can attend this club. A team is chosen from these children to represent the school.

Cricket

In the summer year 5 and 6 children can attend this club. Children are chosen from these children to represent the school.

Homework Club

The homework club allows children to complete given homework in a quiet environment.

Borough Buddies

Year 5 and 6 children volunteer to be Borough Buddies. These children attend training sessions and then help to ensure that all children are happy during playtimes. Borough Buddies teach the children games and play these games with the school children. Children at Littleborough School know that if they need someone to talk to they can go to one of the Borough Buddies.

Trampoline Club

Children of all ages are invited to attend this club. The club allows the children to have fun using a trampoline, whilst gaining valuable exercise and learning a variety of skills.
